q & a: winter stitches with alison

This week, we caught up with Alison to see what’s currently on her winter knitting needles and crochet hook.
Q: What are you working on?
A: Well, that could be a little embarrassing as I can probably count around 10 or more projects on the go – some sitting in the naughty corner, some gathering dust and others just sitting there waiting patiently for me to return and say hi to them again. However, my latest projects on the go are:
Project #1:

A ribbed jumper called the Hyun Sweater from @aeygoknit using one strand of Isager Alpaca 2 and one strand of Isager Silk Mohair.
Project #2:

This fabulous crochet Granny Stripe Blanket by @greenletterday. As I was scrolling the other day, wasting precious knitting time, this project caught my eye and it was too good to go past. I loved the colour combo and the ease of a simple crochet project to work on while watching TV. It’s even free to download on Ravelry! I am using a mix of DK yarns - Blue Sky Fibres Woolstok, Prosper Yarn and Heather Weir. Of course, my intention was to use my scrap yarn stash but only one or two colours are scraps… the rest I just had to buy to complete the mix! It’s very addictive and you don’t get bored as it’s just one line in each colour.

Q: In the crafting community, who is currently inspiring you?
A: @ingthings A.K.A Ingrid - a Dutch woman based in Vienna. She makes the cutest creations and toys for her grandchildren such as these ingredients for a hearty winter soup!
Q: What are the go-to tools in your yarn cupboard?

01 Madeira Embroidery Scissors | 02 Soak Wash | 03 Crochet Hooks (For repairs)

04 Stitch Markers | 05 Fuzz Off Comb | 06 Project 10 Knitting Bag (Walnut/Gold)
Q: Since you have a couple of projects on the go at once, how do you find the willpower to complete a project, resisting temptation to start another one?
A: This is a downfall of many of us, I am sure! Temptation surrounds me whilst working in the store and I have no resistance. When I see new patterns and yarn arrive, I’m just itching to try them out. I do eventually get around to finishing them through working on multiple projects, bit-by-bit. I like to knit small things such as socks when travelling, sweaters and blankets in winter and lighter linens and cotton tops in summer.
There’s always something to knit, no matter the season or circumstance.
